eco, Chiswick was opened in 2008.
As with the previous eco restaurants, zenz once again designed the restaurant and then also produced much of the specialist fit-out. This included the stairs, benching, tables and curved lighting spines. The building shell was similar in form (with its many constraints) to the Clapham original. So, some fifteen years after the original, zenz sought to retain and convey the spirit and approach of that first Eco whilst designing everything anew, and with higher production values. All this again with much birch ply and raw steel, but with little or no replication of the previous elements: a task in many ways more difficult than starting with a open, non-referenced remit.
